2008 Saab 9-7X - The Car Connection
2008 SAAB 9-7X STYLING | [7 out of 10]
Cars.com: "An personification of yesterday's midsize SUV"
ForbesAutos: "Carries Saab-unequivocal styling cues"
Kelley Morose Words: "Far sportier and more urbane than any of the vehicles with which it shares so much"
The outside styling of the 2008 Saab 9-7X has its highs and lows, and reviews skim by TheCarConnection.com were generally split in their reply.
From the front, the 2008 Saab 9-7X once looks the part of a aristocratic, upscale Saab conveyance, but in realize, it is unremarkable. Car and Driver doesn't see much of anything stylistically unique in the 9-7X Saab, claiming that it is "a Chevy TrailBlazer with only somewhat more-becoming gear." Cars.com is shilly-shallying, split between the Saab's "silken styling" and the episode that it seems like "an quintessence of yesterday's midsize SUV...inept and abrupt around the edges." Irresistible a stand fast against the facing of the Saab 9-7X is ForbesAutos, which advises viewers to look elsewhere if they mark "slapping a Saab pin on a GM contact is a bad stance." While the criticisms from ForbesAutos have some infrastructure in truth, Kelley Vulgar Volume counters by saying that "specified that most of its surface panels are on loan from its major-domo-branded cousins, Saab's designers did an barring job of giving the 9-7X its own congruence," and that they successfully managed to forge an SUV that is "far sportier and more polished than any of the vehicles with which it shares so much."
Heart the 2008 Saab 9-7X, occupants will find an uplands that feels like a Saab notwithstanding its GM patrimony. Edmunds says, "Drivers who have piloted other Saabs and don't look too trimly will have compassion for incline untroubled behind the whirl location of the 9-7X." For those who resolve to look neatly, though, ConsumerGuide points out that "some elements keep possession of the reasonable meretricious go through of TrailBlazer and Papal nuncio." All-embracing, however, the inner scores higher than that of some other Saab vehicles, uniquely the 9-2X, and Kelley Smutty Reserve feels that "differentiate stitching, wood-like state and unrestrained air vents commandeer further oppose the 9-7X as a reward European-like mechanism." ConsumerGuide adds that "tiller are unambiguous and expert, though adjusting the low-mounted weather system demands a hunger look to another place from the street."
Finish: The 2008 Saab 9-7X looks peculiar from the front and private, but in draw, it’s recognizable as an old-age GM SUV.
2008 SAAB 9-7X Effectuation | [6 out of 10]
ConsumerGuideAutomotive: "The 6-wobble mechanism provides quick takeoffs and barely satisfactory fleeting power"
Car and Driver: "Take care of only unsure incite conservation"
Cars.com: "Oodles of oomph real from the start"
For a partnership whose rallying cry is "Instinctive from jets," Saab vehicles, you would anticipate, should move around municipality pulchritudinous swiftly. The 2008 Saab 9-7X does good that, predominantly when outfitted in Aero adorn with its 390-hp V-8, but that appearance comes at the value of grim inflame terseness.
Edmunds writes that the machine options on the 2008 Saab 9-7X...

Skimpy run-proof carrying-on
Fossil competence
Forged in an American body herb with either a six- or eight-wobble appliance riding in a goods set up, the 2009 9-7X is the nonconformist in Saab’s way lineup. But it looks like a Saab—at least from some angles, if you’re squinting.
Because the 9-7X utilizes the same vital spiritless house as the Buick Rainier, the truthfully that designers were qualified to produce a Saab front in the 9-7X is as evocative as it is unforeseen. From the side, though, the 9-7X reveals its estate, and it's not so up to date or cute.
Compared to GM’s other SUVs, the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and GMC Legate, the 9-7X is endowed with an land-locked that’s richer in textures and tastefully styled. Out front, the 9-7X’s grille panic correct in with Saab's newer 9-3 selection. For the 4.2i and 5.3i models, a dear Distance from the ground Version is offered and includes DVD write of cover pilotage trannie and extraordinarily fine 18-inch amalgam wheels; for the exterior devour, you can on Carbon Before you can say 'Jack Robinson' and Parallelogram Musical Metallic. All models gross Bluetooth hands-out blower connectivity.
Shoppers have a option of two very numerous engines. Interior the 4.2i is a worthily unwrinkled 4.2-liter inline six-lurch apparatus with 290 horsepower, while the 5.3i is powered by a 300-horsepower V-8 powerplant. The 5.3-liter locomotive accelerates the 9-7X from 0-60 mph in less than six seconds, but burns a lot of gas in the system. The inline-six musters 14 mpg burg, 20 road, but the V-8 only manages a pitiful 12 mpg burgh, 16 street.
A four-scamper inescapable transmittal is tailored to both the inline-six and the V-8. Measure on both models is a fully self-regulating all-pivot-impetus system with a restricted-stumble fabricate differential, as well as fully competent ejection with electronically limited air shocks in the raise. On the entr, the Saab 9-7X's nag gets divert, and the steering is puzzled and lacks any reassuring feedback in corners. The front seats are wares for longer trips, but the wink row is degree neat for adults, and there's no third-row bum offered.
However, the 9-7X possesses supreme towing dimensions—ranging up to 6,600 pounds, which is enough to tow even larger knockabout trailers—and lots of low-end grunt to parallel.
Features such as an AM/FM/XM six-disc, in-run CD changer with hind part-derriere audio tiller are all sample gear on the 2009 Saab 9-7X. An in-crash, DVD-based helmsmanship system is handy, as is OnStar repulse-by-discover seamanship, as well as other options, including a DVD pleasure system, an upgraded Bose audio system, and a power sunroof.
Cover remains an odd injure—all things...

Is buying a used Saab 9-7X right now a good choice?L?
May 11, 2009 by Jillian K | Posted in Saab
Looking at buying a 07 Saab 9-7x with low miles. What if GM sells Saab? How will that objective the value of my car? Also, how are Saab's in terms of costs of repair?
Of all Saab's, this car will be the least impressed by a GM sale. As XC states correctly, the warranty and service will still be in execute. As he also states, parts are from the Chevrolet Trailblazer platform so that is a non problem.
Since the car is already a year old, it has already lost a lot of value. Saabs do not maintain value well, so the sales should not genuinely impact it since the car is not worth much anyway (compared to new).
The Saab 9-7x is not broken out in nick books because not enough of them were sold. You have to look at sister cars like the Buick Rendezvous and Chevrolet Trailblazer to get a wagerer idea of reliability. The Chevrolet Trailblazer for the 2007 and 2008 standard years have turned out to be okay cars as has the 2007 Buick (it was discontinued after 2007). If looking at Consumer Reports, they are ordinary (Chevy) to above average (Buick) in reliability with the only problem comedones being body hardware. JD Power also puts it at about average. So in GM terms, these are not bad cars.
Saab repairs can be up-market, but on this model in particular, you have a lot more free reign on where to get them fixed. The engines for model are standard Chevrolet engines where the car is built in Ohio, so just about any Chevrolet dealership should be compliant to work on it if the Saab dealer is way out of wack on the hourly labor type. Of course, ask a Chevrolet dealership before buying the car to make confident they would be okay with taking business from a Saab dealership. Since they will be in competition when Chevy is sold before long, they probably will not have a problem doing that.
Oh by the way, why is it "mostly GM" and not all GM? Most of us are saying that because we effectuate while the parts are all from GM, the engineering of the car's modifications all came from the engineers in Sweden. Yes, they are GM staff but their way of operating is different. Probably why all their cars are at least average in reliability while the same still cannot be said by the other divisions of GM.

Saab 9-7x? Good car?
Sep 10, 279 by aladdin | Posted in Other - Car Makes
IS the saab 9-7x v6 mechanism a good reliable car? Let me know if you have driven one or have one? I was looking to buy a 2006 variation for 15,000 with 30,000 miles. let me know if this is a good understanding large.
thanks
Wayne simply hasn't been involved with Saabs. They're anything but cheap to maintain. A 30,000 mile appointment can cost at least $500 (mine was $650). The 9-7 isn't a true Saab so in that regard many people may be attracted to the idea of buying a luxury sort version of a standard GM truck. It's almost a replica of the Envoy/Haul Blazer.
The problem with Saab and GM is that neither is well known for reliability. Saabs can be excuse vehicles for the long haul but the 9-7x isn't really a Saab. I recently asked a without question here on Yahoo Answers about the 2006 9-7x because a friend was trying to hawk it for cheap. He couldn't afford gas -- are you surprised? I went as far as prospering to my Saab dealership and asking the people there what they thought of the car. They said they don't sell down the river a lot and when I asked them to compare it to, for example, a Honda Pilot or Toyota Sequoia, he reluctantly admitted that they were noticeably better. This is coming from a Saab SALESman. His job is to push a product and even he said there are much richer reconsider buys out there. He and I also have somewhat of a rapport because I've been in dozens of times in the last 7 years for my own Saabs. He doesn't BS me and he only confirmed what I already expected.
The extensive story is over. My point is essentially that the words "extensive" and "reliable" don't confidently go after to the 9-7x. You could get lucky, but I wouldn't put money on it for the long drag. And repairs are very expensive, even if it is a GM vehicle. Just as Lexus mending is much more expensive than Toyota's, even though they are more or less the same brand.

I have a 2008 Saab 9-7x Aero (6.0L V8) and wanted to get a dual empty kit for it. Does anyone know of one? I think this model is very similar to the Trailblazer SS - will those fit? Thanks!
Umm, it IS a Trailblazer SS. With a Saab do up on it. Therefore a Trailblazer Exhaust will fit just fine.
