Bad performance leads to 'dumb' man's arrest

NEW LENOX TOWNSHIP — Oblivious? No. Dumb? Well …

Will County sheriff’s police said a wanted man gave a dim-witted performance portraying a disabled person Saturday.

The commotion began around 7 p.m. when a patrol deputy allegedly saw a white Pontiac Grand Prix vexed over the center lane three times on Cass Avenue close to Gougar Road.

According to reports, Brandon C. Nesbitt, 22, of Carbondale, and his rider were not wearing seat belts.

“I asked the man to provide labelling and he replied with an indistinguishable response and made multiple hand gestures as if stressful to sign to me,” the deputy reported. “Nesbitt advised his traveller was ‘deaf and dumb.’”

But when New Lenox police officers here as backup, the deputy told the passenger to step out of the channel — which he reportedly did.

“I (then) asked him to step to the front of the Pontiac and he complied without hesitation,” the intermediary said.

Reports said the deputy wrote “list your name and birthday” on a piece of paper, but told the man because his other guidelines were understood he wasn’t convinced he had a disability.

“The passenger began to address in a typical fashion and identified himself,” police said.

But he reportedly provided a phony name and attempted to run to a different place before he was stopped.

A wallet found inside had a photo I.D. belonging to Terrance D. Godfrey, 39, of 611 E. Cass St.

It appears playing a unresponsive-mute was not Godfrey’s first attempt at acting. He was wanted in DuPage County for impersonating a the heat officer, reports said.

Godfrey was arrested for obstructing right and resisting arrest and booked into the county jail. Nesbitt was cited for traffic violations.

He was handicapped alright

JOLIET TOWNSHIP — The heat say a drunken driver attracted unwanted attention where he stopped Oct. 19.

According to reports, at 1:49 a.m. a Will County Sheriff’s minister was passing the 7-11 at Briggs and Cass streets when he saw a glum GMC Yukon “blocking the handicapped parking neighbourhood.”

The deputy found the vehicle running and Jesus Elizalde, 32, slumped over behind the swing asleep, police said.

Anyone know why a 2000 pontiac Grand Prix makes a scraping sound when making a hard left turn?

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. When I boost pretend a U-turn or something similar, it makes a scraping or grinding test. This is only when I turn left. It does this in reverse, also. (I evaluate it's louder in reverse.) I am not braking. It doesn't bruise all the time, just when doing a hard turn. We checked the power steering unformed and it's OK. Does anyone have any clues as to what this might be? I would appreciate any help you might have. Thanks so much!

your cv joints might be endeavour. if not, check the boot, it could be catching on something

How to put points in a 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix?

Can anyone determine me how to put points in a 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix??I have done everything except this and car still not running like it should.
Anyone know how to shift to electronic ignition instead of all this with the points etc??

you buy your new points and condensor,( if you have not done so, also change the cap, wires and rotor)

Remove the cap, and rotor.
Look in the point, identify the parts you are replacing, and where the wires fasten together.
unhook the wire, take out the two phillips screws, that stand firm the points, and one screw that holds the condenser (be very careful not to jilt one of the screws down in the dist , )
install your new points and condenser.
Introduce the condensor wire and the wire from the ignition on the screw( press certain the wires are all the way inserted behind the screw, if they aren't the car will not start) tighten the mishandle.
There are two- three ways you can set the dwell on this distributor
If you do not have a dwell meter:
protuberance the start until the points are fully open, set the gap at 34 thousands with a heath feeler gauge, by turning the allen screw on the front of the goal set...
If you have a dwell meter:
Replace the cap and rotor,
Hook up the stay meter to the coil
start the car
insert the allen tug through the window in the cap
turn the screw until the DM reads 31-34

In a pinch.. you can use the last regulation, without the dwell meter, and turn the screw "until it runs precisely" which when you check it later, will be 31-34.....
