2010 MINI Cooper - Cooper Convertible Bottom Line - The Car Connection

TheCarConnection.com's editors drove the latest MINI Cooper, Exchangeable, and Cooper S hatchback to give rise to you this hands-on technique check. In the escort full study, editors conscious reviews from good Web sites, and have compiled opinions and quotes to workers you find the most skilfully MINI shopping dope thinkable. TheCarConnection.com also compared the MINI Cooper and Flexible to other vehicles, to give you choices when it comes convenience life to buy. Likes Unblended driving joy MINI reality, advantageous and out Transferable top's built-in sunroof Plausibly incalculable add-ons Dislikes Petite hindquarters seats Numbed, unduly fecklessly power steering Quirky, plasticky rudder Options add up despatch The 2010 MINI Cooper/Exchangeable returns for the latest mock-up year unchanged, and to enthusiasts that's thoroughly charge. The MINI Cooper lineup brims with temperament and a unchanged genius, and in any rendition-hatchback or flexible, stand or turbo or John Cooper Works-it's a enchanting car to mean. With a pinchbeck consequence of $19,500 for the Cooper hatchback, $23,000 for the Cooper S hatchback, $24,950 for the Cooper Exchangeable, and $27,850 for the Cooper S ragtop, it competes against the likes of the Volkswagen New Threaten and the Mazda Miata, making attainable inroads with Ford Mustang shoppers. For this year, or positively since the hatchback was revamped in 2008, the MINI Cooper's styling hasn't untouched much. And it doesn't penury to-it's a understanding-practised loyalty to the master MINI, though it's grown significantly larger for the present-day era, with its 15-inch wheels outsizing the primordial 10-inchers, and the higher front end couching all sorts of safe keeping implements. It's a mean kitschy-the smiling grille, the as much as possible patches of chrome, the bug-eye headlamps-and properly appealing. Convertibles fritter the roofline that sets the MINI's wedgy point of view, but the top mould apes it densely, and a encyclopaedic tie of chrome at the candidly limit is a percipient take. Cooper S models get a degree bulged hood to harmonize their turbochargers-and of class, all MINIs can be initialled with a dizzying fix of coat colors, decals, fabrics, entrance way and speed scribble bob pieces, and torso add-ons. Middle the MINI Cooper has a rush that's nuts wasteland with circles, winged shapes, chromed switches, and a 160-mph speedometer sitting unresponsive fore, not in front of the driver. It's provocative to look at, but less enjoyable to literally use-at times, nimble-fingered overkill, and that's before you add your own feel ashamed and dress up schema to the mel. MINI's courteous driving character shines through the hodgepodge. The ignoble motor is a 118-horsepower, 1.6-liter four-stumble, which MINI claims will press the Cooper to 60 mph in about 9 seconds, and to a top step on the gas of 126 mph (124 mph in the Exchangeable). The scurvy motor in the MINI Cooper has thoroughfare tinder thrift of up to 28/37 mpg, plummeting 1 mpg street with the Exchangeable. It's diaphanous for puttering around borough, with enough yen to combine prettily into road transport. The Cooper S models upgrade to a turbocharged...

2008 MINI Cooper - The Car Connection

Pre-eminentlyMINI COOPER STYLING | [10 out of 10] AOL Autos: "Idiosyncratic bulldog suggestion" ConsumerGuide: "Typical, puzzling mixture of colors, shapes, and textures" Route & Track: "Hip, retro styling" The 2008 MINI Cooper may not look new, but in 2007, the British hatchback was en masse redesigned (the Flexible was not; TheCarConnection.com covers it independently). With the new diagram understandable new engines, a cured tyrannize, and a richer secret. It takes an A-one to pick out the differences between the 2008 MINI Cooper and the first-days car. The headlamps unite into the company better, the tokus side window-pane panels are a toy more tapered, and the shoulders on the upraise fenders are a little more strong. Considerable subject--the MINI's iconic structure doesn't lack a round out reinvention. Edmunds calls the MINI Cooper fashionable, replete with British mesmerize and retro British luxury. AOL Autos likes the 2008 MINI Coopers "singular bulldog suggestion." For 2008, Kelley Obscene Laws points out the Cooper MINI receives a series of refinements that evolve the adjust a take form, "including headlamps mounted to the cadaver in lieu of of the hood, arse side drinking-glass...and a taller hood." In the end, unfolding a MINI is rather unproductive since its one of a description, or as Cars.com stresses, no car is thoroughly like a MINI. In jail, the Cooper has more bald changes, including a slimmer fore stash away of wheel, a much bigger speedometer that now contains audio rudder, and a Start knob. The first obsession occupants will mark is the tidy, forefront-mounted speedometer. ConsumerGuide doesn't treasure that the "speedometer forces drivers to distract their eyes from the entr," but also notes the MINI Cooper offers "a nugatory, inessential digital speedometer in the tachometer phizog." Similarly, they squawk "many dashboard gauges and tiller forgoing functionality for 'retro' make." Edmunds says the modernistic uplands is a devise schoolchild's fantasy but an ergonomic authority's trial, with its dozens of buttons and switches that look and act differently than whats become the model in laconic cars. In the end, TheCarConnection.com rates the MINI Coopers styling a ideal 10 because its an instantly recognizable reiteration of the modeland few cars are as memorable and truly to their tradition as this one. Finale: The 2008 MINI Cooper unfalteringly reproduces an iconic model for todays drivers. 2008 MINI COOPER Interpretation | [9 out of 10] ConsumerGuide: "Awe-inspiring power arrives rapidly" Edmunds: "Incredibly fun to tour" The 2008 MINI Cooper exists because drivers need to have fun. And, as Cars.com points out, The Cooper is, above all, fun to push. The archetype mechanism for 2007 is a 1.6-liter four-go round and round delivering 120 horsepower, enough to get the new MINI to 60 mph in precisely over 9 seconds. For 2008, the establish MINI Cooper features a 1.6-liter machine rated at 118 horsepower that moves the lightweight hatchback with estimable ease. Edmunds determines that while MINI claims a 0-60...

2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe Test Drive

Mini Cooper S Coupe.  Koop.  Sha-doop.  Not perfectly a Touareg-level mockery of the English language, solid, but still not something that rolls off the tongue.  But there’s more to the odd case of the Cooper Coupe than well-deserved the name.

If you can’t readily tell, what we have here is a Cooper Hardtop with only two seats, a chopped-off windshield, a greenhouse shaped like a in reverse baseball hat, a pair of spoilers (one fixed), and not a whole excess of headroom.  If you passion Minis for their faux-British charm, you’ll attraction the Coupe.  If you hate them for how purposefully “styled” they are, you’ll in all likelihood have an aneurysm.  Then get back in your Grand National and mumble about “cars these life.”

It seems like Mini styled the Coupe to be cute.  I’m not unshakeable if they’ve succeeded, but as I’m more of a Grand National than a Mini compassionate of guy, perhaps I’m not the one to ask.  The slick bubble roof with jutting “hat-bill” spoiler is silken, but it’s just… plopped on top of a regular Mini corpse.  A comparison to female anatomy in Silicon Valley wouldn’t be off application here, but I’m not the one to make it.  Let’s just say the proportions are riveting.  The low roof, super-raked windshield, and discourteous quarter windows make the doors and fenders seem larger, even though they’re as a matter of fact not.  The rear 3/4 view is odd too; it seems like the body is twice the height of the back glass.  It’s a chairwoman-turner, it’s just a matter of why the heads go around.

But styling is entirely subjective.  You’ll either like the Cooper Coupe, or mull over it’s funny looking.  What’s the disagreement between the Coupe and the Hardtop?  Well, from a practical standpoint, they’re both two entrance way hatchbacks – while the Hardtop has a short, upright hatch, the Coupe has a dream of, sloping fastback.  The major change: there are no fag-end seats in the Coupe.  This is either good or bad, depending on how you look at it.  The Hardtop’s posterior seats are better as punishment than accommodations for a human, although folded downright they make a decent cargo area.  The Coupe already has a totally large cargo area, and you don’t have to fold any seats down to get to it.  You can literally carry large objects in the Coupe’s chest, which you can’t realistically do in the Hardtop with the seats up.

What is the difference between the types of Mini Coopers? Hardtop, Clubman, John Cooper Works, etc?

I be aware someone knows something about Mini Coopers. I am looking to buy one soon, but I just require to make sure I have all my facts straight first.

There are three portion types:

The basic hatchback version.

The convertible.

The Clubman, which is like a peewee wagon, with a third door (hinged at the back) on the right side, and dual doors rather than a brood, for the rear.

Each body type is available in the three stages of accord: Cooper, Cooper S and JCW.

In the USA, all Mini's are Mini Coopers (in the rest of the world there are non-Cooper Minis, including diesel engines).

The Cooper is the root Mini. Normal engine, without turbocharging.

The Cooper S adds a more powerful turbocharged mechanism (in current models, or supercharged in the previous generation cars), together with other differences with transmissions, suspension, trim, etc.

The JCW is a Cooper S on steroids, with more power, stiffer postponement, etc.

Is a 2009 Mini Cooper Hardtop a girl car?

Is a 2009 Mini Cooper Hardtop a sheila car?

No. I would say 85% of buyers are manly.
But the soft top is.

All convertibles are girl cars.

2008 Honda Accord coupe Lx vs. 2009 Mini Cooper hardtop s?

what car would be change one's mind if the Honda Accord Lx is around $19,000 with 14k miles and the 2009 Cooper is $25,000 with 0 miles. i reflect on the interior of the cooper is much nicer than the honda but since bmw owns mini the maintenance would be valuable right? i also like the aux feature that i think comes exemplar with the cooper, does this also come standrd in the Honda? thanks

I force the Honda, BMW, Porsche and Mini lineup on a regular basis and wanted to dole out my thoughts with you.

First, the Honda Accord will have a much better resale value than the Mini. Mini's nurse to overheat due to their small engine bay which as time wears on causes the vigour-train to breakdown prematurely.

Second, the Mini Cooper is louder then the Honda Agreement and has an average stereo system. While some people enjoy hearing their engines, a nobility stereo helps fight boredom on long trips to employment.

Finally and MOST IMPORTANT! The Mini S needs 92 octane to accomplish at its peak. Expect to pay at least $.30 at the pump per gallon than the Honda possessor. In these hard economic times saving a dime is more noteworthy than the S logo!
