Lustrous, sporting and suave, the all-new Jaguar XJ brings a courageous new life to automotive confidence. It offers a siren mix of smashing conception, genius appearance and engineering without yielding. The new XJ offers the choice of four tough and elevated engines, which use the latest powertrain technology to convey an famous parathesis of carrying-on and genre-outstanding effectiveness. 2012 Jaguar XJ: Review notes
07.02.12
EXECUTIVE Managing editor ROGER HART: This 2012 Jaguar XJ is exactly what a flagship should be: nimble, elegant, powerful and a lot of fun to drive. The interior is simply skilful and exceedingly comfortable. The wood trim that wraps heart around the top front of the dash and down the door panels is a wonderful touch, as are the vicinity air vents that jut up from the dash. The touch-screen interface is mastery here than in other Jag examples, but it’s still not the best way to handle such things. I abhor to say it but BMW’s iDrive or Audi’s MMI is a significantly better way to pilot through page after page of digital info in a car. I like the with screen on a phone or iPad because your finger works only great. However, when you are bouncing up and down on highway, it doesn’t. The V8 has a lot of pester, and the car literally glides along at freeway speeds, barely breaking a stew. I’ve become a fan of the digital dash, but I don’t want to consider about what a nightmare it could become years down the road. For now, it is functional, informative and units in this car. DIGITAL EDITOR ANDREW STOY: I’m an unapologetic Jag devotee, and this XJ does nothing to dampen my enthusiasm. Sitting in the car, there’s no way you couldn’t distinguish you were in a British automobile. The piped leather trim, wood accents and proper metal air vents scream old-world craftsmanship of a warm simply not found in German and Japanese flagships. The last two Jaguars that I drove had the players’s outstanding supercharged V8 providing motivation, so I was modified to be a little let down by the naturally aspirated version. My fears were unsupportable: The 5.0-liter V8 provided what felt like at most as much silky-smooth, unfettered torque as the blown variation. I know it wasn’t, but I never once felt like I was missing out. With the windows closed and the comprehensive moonroof sealed shut, the XJ was one of the quietest cars I’ve ever piloted. It’s like sliding along in a vacuum, straight an ominous thrum from the exhaust reminding you that you are firmly in sway of this experience. Step on the gas and you’re treated to one of the finest tendon-car exhaust notes this side of a Ford Mustang Boss 302. It’s plainly sublime. My quibbles mainly center on the telematics: The equal-screen multifunction control is not a model of intuitive skill, and a system like the MMI would be vastly preferable. I’m also not a huge fan of the computer-generated gubbins cluster, though I couldn’t help but think that this layout was closely what Aston Martin had in mind when they dreamt up the Lagonda sedan in the 1970s.

How do I check/change the transmission fluid on my 2000 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas?
Apr 24, 2007 by rk4u247 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a 2000 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas and would like to skilled in how to check the transmission fluid if it needs to be changed and how to add more if certain.
Start appliance, keeping transmission in park. Open the hood.
Come close the back of your engine bay (close to the bottom of your windshield) should be a dipstick, probably with a red deal with. This is your transmission fluid dipstick. You may or may not have to flip the handle up to draw it out of it's tube.
Pull out the dipstick, near the end of it should be some hashmarked areas with "Full" and "Add". If it's at or come close full, leave it alone. If it's just below full, and your engine hasn't warmed up yet, desist it alone. If it's at Add, look into your owners manual to see what kind of ATF (Automatic Transmittal Fluid) your Jag requires. Purchase it at your local auto parts department store or dealership, along with a small funnell.
Again, with the engine running and shipping in park, remove your transmission dipstick, insert the funnell, and SLOWLY add the proper ATF. Maybe a fourth of a quart between inserting the dipstick all the way in and read-through the level. When it's within the "full" zone, close it all up, and pat yourself on the back for having done something that most Jaguar owners totally leave to their butlers to do.

Should i trade in 2004 Jaguar XJ for Phaeton?
Sep 28, 2007 by Pentagram | Posted in Buying & Selling
I bought a 2004 Jaguar XJ (first year of this understanding) pre owned in early 2007 at the depreciated value , it has assumed me nothing but issues, especially with its taillights, which are supposed to last for a long convenience life.
I like large sedans. So, Iwas thinking about trading it in for the substantial Volkswagen Phaeton, you can get very good deals on them since they didn't hawk well.
Maybe it was my fault for buying a model from the first year it came out, but it is a keen car in a good price range and so is the Pheaton.
So if anyone has experience or have knowledge of enough about the Phaeton, can you give me some advice as to what I can do. Some people have suggested just trading it in for a new Altima, but i don't like those. An they rate pretty much the same with the depreciated value.
do they even Figure out the Phaeton anymore?
If you're looking for a good full size sedan with lots of guts, acceptable, nice looking, good mileage, etc consider a 1 or 2 year old Avalon. They're rudely a Lexus ES350 without all the glitz. You can find them for around $24K used with about 20,ooo miles or less. Whatever you do, you should jettison that Jag. Riding the bus is more dependable
