SCV-based Honda Motorsports Unveils Solar Demo Project [Video]

American Honda Motor Co. Inc. today announced the depot of its largest commercial solar-cell demonstration lob in the United States, at Honda Performance Development (HPD), Inc., the company’s broadminded motorsports engineering facility in Santa Clarita, CA. The 100-kilowatt, 800-cubicle array of thin-film CIGS solar panels, manufactured by Honda Soltec Co. Ltd., are installed on the roof, carport, and loading fix canopy at the headquarters of HPD, where the company develops engine technology for the IZOD IndyCar series, the American Le Mans Series, the Le Mans Series in Europe, and other racing programs.

The Honda solar orchestrate complements other unique environmental technologies installed at the powder-room, as well as HPD’s plans for “green racing” motorsports programs. Honda Soltec is a thoroughly-owned subsidiary of Honda based in Kumamoto, Japan.

The solar protest project is one of Honda’s largest to date, providing power to several areas of the HPD exploration-and-development campus, while reducing energy loads and CO2 emissions. Energy produced by the solar place is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 64 metric tons annually, according to Honda estimates.

The system features a solar tracking system that allows some panels to buttress the path of the sun and is designed to power an electric vehicle pony, demonstrating Honda’s vision for a sustainable energy directing system that incorporates Honda solar cell and electric vehicle technologies. Dynamism output will be monitored in real-time through an internet-based monitoring system.

“The institution of Honda Soltec solar panels along with an electric vehicle charging caste at one of our most advanced Honda facilities in the United States represents a big accelerate for us in our solar product development,” said Mike Hodge, boss of Honda Home Energy for the Power Equipment Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “What we learn from this new predict at HPD will provide real-world data and feedback on the use of Honda solar cells in a common commercial application.”

Using a thin-film compound of copper, indium, gallium and selenium (CIGS), Honda’s next-epoch solar cell requires less raw material and 40 percent less dynamism, and related CO2 emissions, to manufacture compared to conventional gem silicon solar cells. Earlier this year, Honda Soltec introduced a new CIGS cubicle with a smaller solar panel design, adding to more unwasteful installation in limited spaces on a wide range of roof shapes. The trade-in efficiency of the new solar cell module is expected to outstrip 13 percent, ranking it among the world’s most unwasteful CIGS-based thin-film solar cells.

Honda Fit?

what is your sentiment of the Honda Fit?
i am looking for a cute car that looks youthful and has a good amount of place in it and is moderately priced.

I have a Honda Fit Root model, I got it the first month they were available. It is equipped with an automatic transferral, and all the other standard features, AC, Power Windows and mirrors, present with CD. It has been rated as a best buy for the money in the small car category by several chauvinistic automotive magazines. I have around 12,000 miles on mine, I get 33-34 MPG around hamlet and on a recent 1200 mile trip I got 41 MPG (the car was tricky with stuff and two people running 70 MPH most of the trip.). For the in dough, it is a great car, zippy, handles great, fun to drive, indulgent on gas and easy to park. The greatest compliment I can give it is; if something happens to this car, I will instantly buy another one just like it. Maybe the next one would be the sport model, which is what I wanted but I could not find one so I bought the derive model.

The only downside of the car is it is hard to find and many dealers want to add a sparse to the window price.

I have talked to a couple of other Honda Fit owners, without shut-out, all are of the opinion that it is a terrific car for the money. By the way, we also have a 06 MB CLS500, I would rather zeal the Honda Fit.

I just checked the owner's manual, there is no requirement to transform the timing belt, there is a service light indicating when oil difference is due, displayed in percent left till change is required, the slow up fluid is to be changed every 3 years and the idle speed is to be adjusted every 160,000 miles. The Mini is a crafty little car that does not come close to the amount of "Stop" the Fit can carry, I paid $16,000 out the door for my Fit, is there a Mini for that appraisal? Ebay has a used 07 Mini for $25,000, careful car, but a drastically different type of car from the Honda Fit.

How well does 2009 Honda Fit interior do against rain or spills?

Heart-rending into Seattle, and thinking about buying the 2009 Honda Fit, but the cloth streamlined for the seats concern me. I wouldn't want to buy a car that would start to stink moldy once it rains.

Also, clearly, I wouldn't be spilling coffee on the seats on intend, but with leather seats, coffee spills might be less concerning.

If you've pressed a 2009 Honda Fit, or just know a lot about it, please help! Thanks!

Well, the drizzle will be kept out of any new car, and Hondas are particularly airtight (pops my ears if someone slams the invent when all the windows are up). I can't help you about the leather, we have cloth seats, and I resist leather, so you have to weigh your own opinions and values on that count. Our dog is in our car a lot, and we carpool an hour (one way) twice a week with coffee drinkers, and have had no problems so far. The cup holders are all inevitable (I love the backseat ones, especially), and the advent of insulated, capped mugs seems to do a right enough job of keeping coffee spills in check.

[EDIT - I wanted to add, this carpool has been successful on for 3 months now, and there have been no spills in any of the vehicles, not just ours. I guess your agitation depends on the hygiene and/or clutz-factor of your intended driver or riders...]

How much would it cost to retro fit a 2007 honda fit sport with a drivers seat from a 2008 model?

Hi,

Very recently bought a 07 honda fit and love it... but wish it had enthuse c intensify in driver's seat for comfort and seating position harmonization like the 08...can it be retrofitted with one and how much would that be?

as far as i can word everything is basically bolt on. so it all depends on who you get to do it, plus the price of parts. it can be done. But i cant give you a penalty
