2009 Chrysler Aspen Bottom Line - The Car Connection

In edict to anthologize this encyclopaedic comment of the 2009 Chrysler Aspen, TheCarConnection.com researched the finery masterful reviews on the Internet. Then, after driving the Chrysler Aspen for themselves, TheCarConnection.com's editors incorporated their own observations. Likes Superabundant guideline features Upscale, self-indulgent look of paper panel Unequalled front seats Dislikes Not much more maneuverable than bigger trucks Squashable, uneven swindle Loaded goods prostrate Vile food concision (except Hybrid) The 2009 Chrysler Aspen is a full-gauge SUV with three rows of room and nurse- and all-position-effort variants. Its densely joint to the Quibble Durango. New for 2009 is two-craze hybrid mock-up of the Chrysler Aspen that offers a invited, if not spectacular, push to provocation brevity. With a routine fullness-on-edging envisage, the Aspen is a business underneath; this doesnt do wonderful things for sit on attribute, but it does pressurize the Aspen a incomparable preference for arcane towing requirements. The Aspen is effective of towing 8,950 pounds when appropriately prepared. Four-pivot-actuate variants embrace a tow/pull course for the five-hurry natural telecasting, while Chrysler's incompatible Trailer Wave Dial helps to state conveyance reliability while towing. A 303-horsepower, 4.7-liter V-8 mechanism is paradigm on the Aspen, while a 345-horsepower, 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 is unmandatoryand valuable for those happy to pay for the interpretation as well, as it doesnt vote in as the ammunition saving any worse. The HEMI also includes Chrysler's Multi-Displacement System (MDS), which can bar off four cylinders during low-power situations, which makes its road provoke brevity ratings as a matter of fact 1 mpg more wisely than those for the 4.7-liter. Both engines effect an unimpressive 13-mpg EPA town rating with 4WDno advantage than full-square footage models. There is an alternate for those who cant eat the conviction of driving a guzzler. 2009 also marks the debut of the Chrysler Aspen Hybrid, which boosts kindling restraint by 25 percent total and up to 40 percent in bishopric driving. The Aspen Hybrid puts out a united 385 hp and 380 yard-feet of torque and pairs the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8. The mechanism drives a continuously unfixed transferral (CVT) that helps the Aspen Hybrid fulfil an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the bishopric and 22 mpg on the roadnot bad for a channel that can finance seven or still tow up to 6,000 pounds. Power from all three powertrain combinations is more than average, but the Chrysler Aspen's great restraint ballast and business-based underpinnings are understandable in the way the Aspen brakes (with lots of nosedive) and handles. For a mechanism with no spontaneous uplift discontinuing, the Chrysler Aspen offers a rather lenient in, but it is also jerky on all but the smoothest roads. Steering is commonly considerate for a 5,000-produce SUV, but twisty roads will immediately sober use of the slacken pedal. Hinterland cell and destine within the 2009 Chrysler Aspen are combative points, as the rudder and displays are pulling and well meant. The wood trace...

Plugging in: Chrysler goes big with electric hybrid vehicles; minivan test ...

The PHEV Ram 1500 includes a transparent-cooled 12.9kWhr lithium ion battery end and a 6.6 kilowatt (kW) on-board charger. Additional features classify AC power generation of up to 6.6kW, directional charging, veto power flow and full regenerative braking used to seizure more energy.

The powertrain also includes a 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 motor and a two-mode hybrid transmission. The 5.7-liter HEMI is set with a Fuel Saver technology that improves fuel experience at highway speeds by shutting down fuel delivery to up to four cylinders.

According to Bazzi, the pickup trucks can obtain up to 32 miles per gallon fully charged.

Chrysler has no announced plans of erection either of the vehicles for mass production, but Bazzi said the automaker is already benefitting from the DOE partnership and the examination fleet of pickup trucks.

“The goal of the program is a slues of things,” he said. “The most important one is to be clever to integrate this technology into a vehicle that would establish a core competency within Chrysler engineering that would entertain us to take a similar technology. It doesn’t have to be plug-in hybrid on a pickup trade, but the technology for a BEV, HEV or plug in hybrid, for the next stage of production.”

Bazzi said the program has Chrysler positioned to appliance similar technologies in future vehicles, such as the electric Fiat 500 due out next year, as well as numerous projects that have not been announced.

One of coterie’s expected vehicles with hybrid technology is the Chrysler 300 in 2013. Marchionne has talked about the conveyance numerous time, however, Vince Muniga, a Chrysler spokesman, said the associates is not ready to publicly discuss that vehicle.

“We really can’t talk about the Chrysler 300,” he said. “It is something Mr. Marchionne mentioned, but reactionary now it’s a product we are not talking about.”

Marchionne also said that Chrysler would also be bringing diesel vehicles to the U.S. to workers meet the CAFE standards. The first of these diesel vehicles will liable be a Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2013.

In the past, Chrysler hasn’t had the outwit reputation regarding hybrid vehicles. In 2008, the company discontinued the Wheeze Durango and Chrysler Aspen full-sized hybrids just two months after both vehicles began full-ascend production.

However, the Obama administration’s tougher nourish economy standards of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025 have all automakers looking to hybrids, and in Chrysler’s occurrence diesels to help meet that objective.

what would be the mileage with chrysler aspen hybrid?

I have a Chrysler 300C with me. While I fondness the car it gives me about 18miles/gallon on city roads and about 21 on freeways. I was looking at Chrysler Aspen impending out with Hybrid this fall and was wondering about its mileage to a gallon. Also any advice on selection options would be useful. I am looking to going more green and thrift on gas.

The question is that the Chrysler's hybrid version has not been released yet. Sure, Chrysler can make claims as to the expected encouragement savings but there are no real world, public driven, secretly owned examples yet so your guess of the actual mileage is only as good as my guess...

Should I buy a 2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid?

I am looking at purchasing a Hybrid Aspen in the next few weeks. I've heard they are discontinuing the Aspen for 2010.

Any thoughts anyone?

The Chrysler Aspen Hybrid uses the GM/Daimler/Chrysler/BMW-seasoned 2-Mode Hybrid Transmission. It's the same transmission as the ones used in the GM Tahoe Hybrid, the GMC Yukon Hybrid, and the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid.

The enigma is that you are paying $10,000 more than the regular Aspen, for a modest gain in food economy-- The hybrid gets 20 city/22 road, while the regular one gets 13 city / 19 thoroughfare.

Also, consider the GM/DCX/BMW 2-Mode system debuted in 2008-- Unlike the Toyota hybrid system that has been around since 1997 and has all of its bugs ironed out, the 2-rage is in its first few years of introduction and you might very well be a paying "beta-tester."

Not to cite difficulty in the future for finding replacement parts since the pattern is discontinued.

Personally, I think the 2-Mode system is nightmarishly obscure-- it uses two electric motors that are engaged by two clutches for low-fly like the wind operation, and at high speeds it switches to a 4-speed robot-like transmission. There are bound to be lots of bugs in that supercomplex system that requests to be ironed out.

In contrast, the Toyota and Ford hybrid systems use one only planetary gearset, no clutch, no gear-shifting harm-and-tear. Much simpler and much more reliable.

You want a hybrid SUV, best encumber with the Ford Escape Hybrid or a Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
