It’s the car that every office drudge in the world (those still employed) covets and the goal for every other maker when it rolls out a smaller car with premium pretensions. Odd then that the X3, the flaunt-ute of the 3 family, got so little attention from BMW. At least until now. For years we carped about the mollycoddle Bimmer SUV’s rocky ride and its lackluster styling and intimate. But it was selling well, so what did we know? Then, for 2011, BMW woke up and gave the X3 a fitting makeover, inside and out, and began to apply some of the goodies that the cars were getting. (The iDrive computer system may not equipped as a “goodie” to everyone, but BMW has made it less inscrutable to those of us who are over the age of 14.) If you’re already a BMW sedan driver, the X3’s stubby shifter lever, with its odd hack and buttons, counterintuitive movements and robotic response, will be habitual. If not, you’ll have to teach yourself that pushing the lever ahead engages move, and to go forward you pull it backward. To “Park” you don’t move the lever at all—by the skin of one's teeth thumb the switch on top. One of the biggest changes for the X3 is an 8-speed instinctive transmission, which helps improve fuel economy on the thoroughfare to about 25 MPG. At least in the 28i model, with so many cogs to choose from, its computer brain sometimes makes the conveyance hunt around for the best one. Shifting is smooth enough that this isn’t bothersome. Every BMW robot-like has a Sport setting, which sharpens the response and, here, locks out the top two gears. This was well and truly baked into its first “truck,” the 1999 X5, and then matter-of-fact less successfully to the smaller X3, which debuted in 2004. Although it’s now nearly as eleemosynary as the original X5—and no lightweight, either—the newly refined harry finally makes the X3 a pleasure to drive. (Equal albatross distribution over both axles plus fine seats and a steady and creak-free structure don’t hurt, either.)

I can not use manaul let go to open, only switch on key. It continually opens on it's own unless I entangle all.
The intractable will almost certainly be either an intermittent short in the switch unit (under the back wiper fixing) or water ingress under the rear spoiler on top of the Nautical aft tailgate glass causing a short where the switch connects to the carrier wiring.
The most probable cause will be a short in the switch itself.
You can authenticate this by removing the trim on the inside of the glass (behind where the switch fits of laughter- 2x 10mm nuts) and disconnect the switch there.
Replacing the switch involves removing the wiper arm (13mm nut) and the lash unit itself (24mm Nut and another 10mm on the inside of the glass)

i am looking for a new wagon, and have narowed down my choices. which do you invent is better? could you please list the advatages and disadvantages of each? thanks a lot!
I would take the Volvo because they ahve known to be more honourable than BMW's, and Volvos are the safest car on the road. The Volvo still has competative peformance and handling to the 3 Series. Tab it out here http://www.volvocars.us/models/v50/
